DogPack "In our Community"

DogPack is taking the next step and helping others in their Community.  DogPack is now working towards a goal to help victims that have to come and face their abusers in Court.  When a child has to come to Court and face the person that has hurt or abused them they face yet another traumatic  event in their lives.  Then on top of this it is very boring and hard to sit there waiting for the proceedings to start.

DogPack has made the decision to help this this problem as much as possible.  We will be putting together victim packages to be given by the Prosecutor's Office to the children when they come to Court.  These packages will consist of coloring books, colors, books, a stuffed animal, and other items.  It is our hope that these packages will aid in making it easier for the victim to go through this process and serve as a distraction for them among all the pain.

We challenge others in the Community to step up and help others and "Make a Difference" in your Community.

Up Date:  08/18/2006---DogPack has begun our challenge and we have started to see that others do care.  Wal-Mart stepped up and is helping out our cause along with Dollar General both out of Versailles.  These two business have heard the call and have stepped up to make a difference.

08/21/2006---Several other community business have also stepped up and want to make a difference like us.  KS95 gave a donation and is doing some advertising for our cause, Versailles Green house has shown that they care also with a donation, Michelle Brown a community hair stylist has shown that she cares about our community, The City of Versailles is also helping us reach others in the community with advertising.  I am proud to be apart of the Community of Morgan County a place that has many people that care and want to make a difference.

08/29/2006---Several more of the Community's business have heard our cause and have stepped up and also want to make a difference.  B W Graphics, Cadel McGrew Chevy Dealership, Casey's General Store, and The Leader Statesman have all took the step to show that they care.  From donation of money to advertising to items for kids they all proven to me and our team that they are indeed great business and community members.  What a great community and place we have here in Morgan County.

10/17/2006---DogPack delivers the goods to the people that count.  On this day the team finally put everything together to get the items to the people that need it the most.  We worked hard to make contacts in the community so that the items needed could be obtained.  We put everything together and made the delivery to the Prosecutor, Marvin Opie, and his assistant, the energy and focus behind the effort, Karen Moore.  We want to thank Karen and Marvin for the ability to help in this great cause.  It was well worth the effort and work put in.  We hope that it will make a difference to those that matter the most, the reason for doing the drive in the first place, the Victims.  Thanks everyone that had a hand in this effort.

New for the team

DogPack has started a new thing during their practices.  It is a date with Poe and Top Gun.  Every Sunday practice the team competes for the right to take home the team Mascot or the team Poe.  Poe is a three foot tall tele-tubby that was  purchased.  The rules for the Poe winner is that Poe must go with you at all times and I mean everywhere.  Here are pics of the winners of both over the last month so enjoy.

Mascot top gun winners start with Mike Beaty week one, Ron Eldridge week two and Mike Nienhuis week three.  Photos of Mike B. with the dogs is also missing and will be posted soon.  Joe Brown has also been a Poe winner but photo of him with Poe is missing at this time but will be posted soon.

Both Steven and Joe are Poe winners for two weeks.

Dogs do Harrisonville.

DogPack traveled to the wonderful city of Harrisonville for one of Chris Cotton's outstanding events.  Saturday, with a huge turn out of 28 teams, was 3-man play.  We had two teams entered, tons of marker problems and even more fun.  We put two totally new players out on the field for the first time.  Our own Joe "Fat Kid" Brown and Bo "Twitch" Walters.  They experienced their very first tourney.  They did a great job.   The teams finished just short of points needed to go to finals, but we beat the rain.

Sunday, overcastted and a little warmer,  was to be 5-man play with another great turn out.  The 18 teams were divided into two divisions with play being intense and explosive.  There were some go plays and matches and a few that could have been erased from the event.  With two teams in we played our hearts out and discovered a few new things to work on for the next gig.  All the Dogs left with our heads high and with several stories.   Back player Mike Nienhuis decided that he had enough of the back of the field and decided to play the snake which lead to the win after three, yes I said three, bunker jobs.  We have it on video.  Great job everyone.

Pics and possibly a video will be posted for viewing of Harrisonville's tourney.  Thanks to Harrisonville for stepping up and supporting your local players and Chris Cotten and allowing an event like this to be played.
